Dear Watermark Family,
Thank you for taking the time to prayerfully consider your continued commitment to Watermark Community Church by completing your 2025 Membership Renewal.
As elders, we take seriously the commitment we make before the Lord to shepherd and give an account for the flock God has entrusted to us. We believe church membership is more than weekly attendance or names on a roster and that meaningful membership is essential to the life of the church and part of God’s care and provision for His people.
These beliefs are informed by Scripture, including 1 Peter 5:2 and Hebrews 13:17:
Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly. (1 Peter 5:2)
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. (Hebrews 13:17)
Completing the yearly Membership Renewal allows you to review the Watermark Membership Covenant and affirm that you want to continue as a member of Watermark Community Church. We hope you take extra time to review the new language of the covenant. This year, we have updated the Membership Covenant to align with Watermark’s 10 markers and new vision statement: “Abiding in Jesus, we are making disciples together.” While Watermark’s beliefs remain unchanged, updating the Membership Covenant helps us communicate with greater consistency, and continue to provide clarity around how our elders believe God is carrying Watermark forward.
